Coca-Cola anti-Ban Campaign

NUI Maynooth is the only college to have successfully defeated the Coca Cola Ban, fast becoming popular among colleges across the country. I have designed this section to help other branches of Young Fine Gael, (or other groups that feel strongly on the issue) so that our success can be emulated.

Our campaign while detailed was broken down into three points.
o Innocent until proven guilty
o Student jobs and Irish jobsand
o Freedom of choice.

These are the three simple things I asked people to keep in mind when i went into lecture theatres during the campaign. I told them that we were not far right wing 'George Bush' types but simply saying that we don't think it would be fair to ban Coca Cola products which would cost jobs, and restrict freedom of choice over something that had not been proven.

On election day I went into every lecture theatre and reminded people of all the drinks that were going to be banned from the bar unless they voted no to a ban. This was especially important in our campaign as there were a larger number of students who were fairly apathethic about the issue and would not have voted for it, had they not been reminded. These drinks included Schweppes, diet coke, Lilt, Fanta, BPM, Deep River Rock, Oasis, Sprite and more.

We also campaigned with a large number of leaflets and posters. (see below) The Main posters we used were the ones emphasising our three points. The handout we used was one with Homer Simpson in it so as to attract attention.
