Brian Declares For Leinster

I have been involved in Fine Gael for 6 years now and first became involved in YFG when I started in NUI Maynooth, almost 3 years ago. As Chairperson of YFG Maynooth in 2004/05 I worked tirelessly to ensure that the Branch was a success, and indeed it was - despite its small numbers. The branch was recognised for its achievements in terms of the variety of public meetings, innovative events and its many guest speakers. I was determined to achieve the very best for the branch and I believe I have done that.

As a member of the current National Executive, I believe I have the necessary experience both at Branch and National level in YFG, which I can apply to the position of Leinster Organiser. I want to ensure that Fine Gael in Leinster achieves the very best in the forthcoming General Election, and that YFG is the key to achieving this. Almost one year ago, Fine Gael contested two by elections in the Leinster region, winning a seat in Meath and increasing the Fine Gael vote in Kildare North, in which Maynooth is part of. YFG played a vital role in each of these by elections and it is my commitment to ensure that this success is rolled out across every constituency in the Leinster region. It is my commitment to increase the activity of YFG throughout Leinster, and as Leinster is composed of mainly non-college branches I will work with each to identify campaigns of local importance.
