A large attendance availed of this opportunity to look back on a successful year for the organisation while looking ahead to the coming election year with confidence.

Guest chairperson for the night Cllr Darren Scully was joined by other FG public reps Cllr. Senan Griffin, Cllr. Tom Neville and Cllr. Theresa Byrne.

In his outgoing chairperson's report, Mel Farrell highlighted the increase in membership, Christmas table quiz and successful Leader's tour of the University as his personal highlights for the year. He also stated that the Maynooth branch's new status within the organisation could be gaged from the sheer size of our delegation at Conference 2006, an increase of 16. Mel also had words of tribute for Brian Dawson's various achievements during his three years as branch member.

Brian Dawson thanked all those in the branch who had supported his campaign for Leinster Organiser while he also discussed his memories of Maynooth. He hoped that the branch would go from strenght to strenght in the coming year and joined with other members in wishing Cllr. Scully the best of luck in his General election campaign.

In the Finance report the committee demonstrated that at the year's end there remained some funds in the account.

Guest Chairperson Darren Scully then presided over the election of officers for the coming year. Mel was re-elected as chairperson, Gerry was elected Secretary, Thomas is the new PRO while Sean Jones becomes Branch Organizer. Laura O'Brien succeeded in a tight election for Vice Chairperson while runner up for that post Orlene Ferrick was successful in her bid to become Treasurer. remaining positions will be filled ,as per usual, when the new academic year begins.

Following the Guest Chairperson's address and the remarks from the incoming chairperson, there began a discussion on the Maynooth area development plan. Members were able to put questions about that plan to the public reps present.

The incoming chair concluded the meeting before inviting those in attendance to join in the wine & cheese reception. In typical YFG fashion, there then followed a night of socialising in the SU bar!!
